The HTC Desire is a mid-range smartphone by HTC smartphone maker. The HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G is the latest device of the Desire family and was launched in January 2020. The device is the successor to the HTC Desire 20 Pro which was launched back in June 2020. Although both devices belong to the same family, they have different designs.
The price of both devices is also different. For example, the HTC Desire 20 Pro goes for around $230. On the other hand, the more recent HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G goes for around $428. The high price might be due to the 5G connectivity that comes with the smartphone but all the other hardware specs are much better compared to those on the Desire 20 Pro.
Key Differences
The most obvious key difference between the 2 smartphones is the inclusion of 5G connectivity. The design is also different as the Desire 20 Pro punch-hole display is placed on the top left corner whereas the Desire 21 Pro is located at the top center of the display. However, were going to just look at the hardware differences which are far more important. These are the hardware differences;
- Screen refresh rate – The HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G ships with a 90 Hz display which is much better especially in gaming.
- Display size – HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G features a 6.7 inches display whereas the HTC Desire 20 Pro features a 6.5 inches IPS LCD display.
- Chipset – The Desire 21 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 690 5G chipset which is also more powerful in terms of performance.
- RAM – The Desire 21 Pro 5G comes with up to 8 GB of RAM whereas the Desire 20 Pro only has 6 GB of RAM. However, it still works for daily tasks and light gaming.
- Selfie camera – Although the HTC Desire 20 Pro is an older device, it features a higher MP selfie camera(25 MP) than the Desire 21 Pro 5G (16 MP).
