Apple recently announced that the self-service repair kit is now available. Customers can obtain repair manuals and original Apple parts and tools through the Apple self-service repair shop. The service is the first to launch in the United States. Subsequently, Macrumors has exposed the appearance of Apple’s self-service repair tool rental kit. The kit contains all the tools needed to repair the iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 series models and the third-generation iPhone SE.
According to reports, the rental kit includes two boxes, one weighing 43 pounds (about 19.5 kg) and the other weighing 36 pounds (about 16.3 kg). Adding both weights together, the repair kit weighs about 36 kg. Size-wise, the two cases are 20 inches wide and 47 inches tall when stacked. However, both boxes have wheels for easy transport. Apple’s tool rental kit is priced at $49 and has a one-week rental period. It is designed to allow customers who do not want to buy tools for a single repair to still use these professional repair tools.
Apple says the online store offers more than 200 individual parts and tools, enabling experienced customers to complete repairs on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series, as well as the iPhone SE (3rd generation). Later this year, the program will also cover Apple-chip Mac computers.
Apple announces a self-service repair service – users can buy parts and tools to repair iPhone 12/13 by themselves
The Cupertino company announced that the self-service repair service is now available. Customers can obtain repair manuals and original Apple parts and tools through the Apple Self-Service Repair Shop. The self-repair service is rolling out first in the U.S. and will expand to other countries later this year.
To initiate the self-repair process, customers need to first view the repair manual for the product they want to repair by visiting support.apple.com/self-service-repair, then visit the company’s Self-Repair Store and order the necessary parts and tools.
The company says the parts are the same as those available from Apple’s network of authorized repair suppliers, at the same price. Self Repair Service also provides customers with the same Apple tools that the Repair Network uses. The company will also offer tool rental kits for $49. Thus customers who don’t want to buy tools can still use these professional repair tools for a week.
However, it is important to note that Apple will not be liable for any damages. These are the damages you may cause due to inexperience during the repair process. Thus, it is important you know much about repairs before attempting it.
